DPIRD-ANPC-FFS research supports new WA wine region guide

Following a promising 2023 vintage, the Western Australian Government’s Department of Primary Industry and Regional Development (DPIRD) launched Geology, soils and climate of WA’s wine regions, an industry-focused guide to wine-growing areas across the state. The guide is supported by research that examined sensory attributes and elemental composition of WA wines –both of which are heavily influenced by regional soils and climate. The research was undertaken as part of the FFS’s flagship ‘ANPC Analytics’ project, a multi-stream collaboration with DPIRD, global scientific equipment firm Bruker and scientists from Murdoch University and its Australian National Phenome Centre (ANPC). The research was co-funded by DPIRD through its Wine Industry Export Growth Partnership.
