New registration and labelling processes for exporting to China

The Federal Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (DAWE) has announced a new registration process for food processing and storage facilities handling product for export to China, as well as changes in Australia’s food labelling requirements for China.

China’s new requirements apply to a wide array of products including meat, dairy, seafood, honey and other processed foods.

The changes come into effect from 1 January 2022.

To help businesses understand the new processes agrifood businesses must now meet in order to continue exporting to China, DAWE has provided detailed market access advice.
