Challenge Global supply chains, particularly in food systems, face inefficiencies due to fragmented data, high transaction costs, and limited consumer-producer connectivity. While the initial Proof of Concept (Project 1) demonstrated the viability of blockchain for traceability, there remained a need to scale the model, integrate user-friendly tools, and establish governance mechanisms suitable for cross-border operations.
Solution Project 2 deploys the Smart Trade Hub architecture by integrating a blockchain-based technical layer, a governance framework for international compliance, and a community engagement model to aggregate demand and incentivise participation. Starting with the BeefLedger ecosystem, the project enables consumers to place verified, prepaid orders that trigger transparent supply chain responses. Dashboards, smart contracts, and user interfaces are designed to streamline transactions, reduce costs, and enable new finance models. Development is supported by SCP Capital, Smart Trade Networks, and QUT, with feedback loops and user training embedded to ensure adoption and continuous refinement.
Impact The platform bridges producers and consumers, enhancing supply chain efficiency, trust, and responsiveness. It lowers barriers for independent exporters, unlocks new revenue models through data services and network participation, and provides a scalable foundation for future integrations across food, health, and accreditation sectors. Project 2 set the stage for a decentralised, user-driven ecosystem capable of evolving alongside technological and market developments.
