Yusuf Adewale is a doctoral candidate at University of New England in northern New South Wales. His research is using predictive modelling to ascertain egg production quality and quantity, deploying supervised machine learning algorithms. Adewale is the recipient of a top-up PhD scholarship from the CRC that will support his work over three-and-a-half years. His research is co-supervised by UNE’s Dr Mitchell Welch, a data and computer scientist and former software engineer; computational ethologist Dr Terence Z Sibanda and Dr Isabelle Runhke. Adewale is expected to complete his doctoral thesis by 30 June 2025.

Predictive modelling of egg production quality and quantity using supervised machine learning algorithms

Development of predictive diagnostic algorithms using machine learning models have the potential to improve the management of egg production. The project aims to develop supervised machine learning algorithms that are useful to assess the predictive ability of forecast parameters (and the impact of various events that these parameters describe) and to predict the performance of egg production in free-range hens in Australia.
