A grade-A student with a passion for science and technology, Priyanka Kundu took out a Bachelor of Science (Hons) from The University of Burdwan, ranking first in the university, completing a Masters of Science in Biotechnology at Varanasi’s Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and Indian Institute of Technology in 2018. Soon afterwards, she won a national Biotech Industrial Training Programme Scholarship from Biotech Consortium India Ltd and, in March 2019, joined Biocon Research Ltd in Bengaluru as a Research Trainee, then Research Scientist. Kundu relocated from India to Australia in early 2023 to join the project team for a FFS-co-funded collaboration between UNSW Sydney and SME All G Foods that is looking to produce nature-identical dairy proteins via precision fermentation using state-of-the-art technology and analytics. Kundu’s research is being supervised by project lead and UNSW, Associate Professor W. Alexander Donald, with input from dairy formulations expert Professor Cordelia Selomulya, and scientists at All G Foods including Chief Technology Officer Professor Roman Buckow, Head of Precision Fermentation Dr Jared Raynes, and Dr Daniel Winter, Proteomic Engineer.
