Adam Wilson started working with one of the largest truffle farms in Western Australia back in 2006. Since there, he has seen the demand for truffles skyrocket. So today, Great Southern Truffles distribute truffles to some of the most celebrated chefs in Australia, Europe, and the USA.

Australian truffle: truffle cultivation for industry expansion

Truffles are an expensive mushroom due to their distinctive taste and aroma. In Australia, the truffle industry relies on one species, which has a limited three-month season. The aim of this project is to assess two new truffle species for Australian conditions, including inoculation and cultivation techniques, environmental conditions (e.g., climate, growing medium, water), and suitable host trees (e.g., Pinus species).

New CRC project to lay groundwork for Australian truffle industry expansion

Premium WA food supplier Silverplace is looking to Mt Lindesay farmers and Murdoch University scientists to help develop the know-how required to expand Australia's high-value truffle industry.
