Challenge Australian food manufacturers face growing demands for quality assurance and traceability, but few facilities meet advanced manufacturing standards. Most CRC industry partners rely on toll processing and lack access to sustainable, cost-effective technologies suited to next-generation production. This creates a gap between current practices and global best practices.
Solution The CRC launched a foundational scoping project to map the landscape of advanced food manufacturing. This involved a literature review and a high-level survey of CRC partners to understand their processing needs and technology aspirations. The project also compiled global benchmarks and best practices to guide the CRC’s strategic direction.
Impact The resulting scoping project provided key insights into industry needs and global innovations. It deepened the CRC team’s understanding of partner requirements, created a shared baseline for capability discussions, and positioned the CRC to support the sector’s future development.
