Round 5 RED Grants to back regional development projects across WA

Round 5 of the WA Government’s Regional Economic Development (‘RED’) Grants is now open and will close on 24 August 2022.

Funding [is] available for locally-driven projects that stimulate investment, job creation, productivity, skills development and economic diversification.

The WA Government is offering $5 million in funding – up to $250,000 per project – in projects that support jobs, develop skills, expand or diversify industry, increase business productivity and attract new investment to WA’s regions.

The first four rounds of RED Grants saw the WA Government invest around $26m to help deliver 263 business and community-driven projects across regional Western Australia.

The state government has committed $45.8 million over eight years towards the program.

“The McGowan Government is committed to supporting regional initiatives that will create real economic impact and employment opportunities,” said Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan in a recent media release.

“More than $26 million has been allocated to 263 projects through the previous four rounds of the RED Grants program, with initiatives including industry development, Aboriginal industry development, agricultural diversification and tourism expansion.

“We encourage businesses and organisations in the regions to consider how RED grant funding could be used to support or enhance their business or community project,” Minister MacTiernan said.

“Locally-driven projects that stimulate job creation and economic growth in regional Western Australia are vital to the ongoing strength of our regional communities.”

Peel DC offers guidance for Peel-region applicants

“RED Grants are an incredibly powerful state government initiative that catalyses economic development in the region,” Peel DC Chair David Doepel said.

Peel Development Commission is committed to helping prospective applicants with project proposals for WA’s Peel region develop the best possible proposals, Doepel said.

Throughout July, the commission invites applicants with Peel region-based projects to meet with the team in person to discuss project proposals one-on-one, Peel DC can provide guidance on funding criteria and the application process for this round, and give constructive feedback to previously unsuccessful applicants considering reapplying. If none of the scheduled timeslots suits, Peel DC recommends contacting them before submitting an application.
