The annual Sector Competitiveness Plan produced by Food Innovation Australia Ltd (FIAL), the Commonwealth Government’s Food and Agribusiness Growth Centre, looks at drivers of and obstacles to the competitiveness of Australia’s food and agribusiness sectors..

FIAL’s 2020 SCP roadmap, compiled just prior to the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic, details the inputs and outputs needed to achieve its vision for Australia’s food and agribusiness sector.

These are ‘continuously reviewed and modified to reflect changes in the market and industry dynamics during this 10-year period’, the Centre states.

While FIAL’s 2020 SCP fails to account for the massive worldwide disruption caused by the pandemic, it does discuss issues of continuing importance, including supply-chain resilience, global markets and food trends, such as the rise of well-heeled consumers across Asia and the boom in ‘health and wellness’ food products and supplements.
