Based in the Faculty of the Built Environment since 2005, UNSW’s City Futures Research Centre (CFRC) has become a national leader in scholarly applied urban research. Its work spans the interrelated areas of urban planning, housing, health and wellbeing, design, urban development and social policy. The centre collaborates with academics across Australia, Asia and Europe and maintains strong partnerships with local, state and federal government agencies, industry stakeholders and community groups.

The City Futures Research Centre, along with rCITI, brings world-class applied urban, social and health research and planning capabilities to the CRC’s projects around the development of smart, sustainable food clusters around Australia, starting with the Liverpool-Western Sydney Airport cluster, currently in its scoping and pre-planning stages.
