The Water Research Centre (WRC), an externally funded centre within the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, provides multidisciplinary research in water resources, engineering, management and the development of tools for environmental management and sustainability, designed to improve aquatic and atmospheric environments. It has two research locations: WRC on the Kensington campus and the Water Research Laboratory (WRL) at Manly Vale.

The centre brings engineering and environmental management tool-development capabilities and state-of-the-art lab facilities to CRC projects looking to improve water-efficiency in indoor cropping facilities, and to plan water infrastructure for food-industry clusters.
