This project supports Perfection Fresh in finding solutions that minimise broccolini wastage, improve crop quality and yield, and extend the growing season of a highly sought-after, high-value crop. The project is testing different applications that aim to reduce wastage and that maintain or increase plant nutrient flow into the development of inflorescences and the main broccolini product.

National map of protected cropping systems

The CRC is collaborating in this Hort Innovation project to provide essential baseline data to support logistical decisions around industry growth, transport, labour, market access, food security, drought resilience, water infrastructure, natural disaster and biosecurity response. This data will also be an essential base layer for many federally supported initiatives including biosecurity, soils, climate resilience and carbon.
