‘Rewilding’ for climate change

Experts are suggesting that UK farmers should be reimbursed for ‘rewilding’ parts of their properties, returning farmland to its natural state to encourage wildlife, restore the ecological balance and sequester carbon, offsetting harmful emissions.

Any loss of agricultural productivity, they say, could be compensated for by small-footprint vertical farming in and around population centres.
