FoodTrack nutritional database: on track and online

Developed six years ago by Australia’s national science agency, CSIRO, and The Heart Foundation, the FoodTrack app and database consists of highly accurate nutrition data for almost 45,000 food and beverage products – more than 90 per cent of all fresh and packaged foods sold across the Australia’s four big supermarket chains: Aldi, Coles, IGA and Woolworths.

The data, which is updated annually, is now available via the online analytics platform Nutritics.

According to Stephen Nolan, Chief Operating Officer for Nutritics, technology plays an key role in enabling organisations to make better healthcare decisions.

“Feedback from our Australian customers highlights that information is crucial to improving efficiencies in the food product development process and the implementation of healthy eating strategies for clients,” Nolan told Food&Beverage Industry News in July 2020.

“Our mission is to empower the world to make better food choices, by making food and recipe information more accessible and valuable using innovative technology.”
